Gov Oborevwori paying adequate attention to roads in Sapele, other LGAs ~ Bureau Chief

.....Says Bathing in contaminated water may cause disease, infections

Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is paying adequate attention to rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads in Sapele Local Government Area, and in all local government areas of the state.

He made the disclosure in reaction to the purported arrest of a Deltan in Sapele over his trending video on social media platforms, wherein he was seen taking his bath in dirty road waters to attract government attention, saying that the young man ought to consider the health implications of his misguided action.

Dr Oghenesivbe affirmed the right of citizens to demand government interventions over dilapidated roads or infrastructural decay in their constituencies or Communities whenever the need arises, but that a situation where a citizen had to expose himself to possible health hazard to attract government attention is not acceptable, and must not be encouraged by any right thinking individual.

He said governor Oborevwori had in recent times approved the rehabilitation and reconstruction of over 15 kilometers of internal roads in Sapele town and it's environ, including the reconstruction of Orhorhor road and Mr Benjamin Aboneje road, formerly Hardock road, while efforts are being made to reconstruct Okirighwre-Benin road.

Other roads approved for reconstruction by governor Oborevwori in Sapele, according to Dr Oghenesivbe, include; Shell road expansion, Eseimoni street and environs, Major Brown road and Benin road by GKS, among others, assuring that other unmotorable roads within Sapele shall be attended to in phases, while also attending to bad roads in the remaining 24 local government areas in the state.

The State Orientation and Communications Bureau DG further stated that during the immediate past administration of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, several roads were either rehabilitated or reconstructed in Sapele town and environs, including; Edegbrode/Eleme road, Sapele/Warri road, Amukpe roundabout by express to Okirighwre to AT&P roundabout, and Amukpe-Sapele road.

Other roads commissioned by Governor Okowa are; Laboard road linking Commercial avenue, Reclamation road, Omene road linking Crudas road, and Lawrence road which opened up the Timber Town, among others.

Dr Oghenesivbe said the good governance strides of governor Sheriff Oborevwori across the 25 local government areas of the state had received commendations from residents and well-meaning Deltans irrespective of political affiliation, while urging members of the opposition party to appreciate the governor where he excelled and to also offer constructive criticism to facilitate the overall development of the state beyond 2027.

"The trending video of a young man bathing in dirty road water is distasteful and should not be encouraged by any right thinking individual.

"Bathing in contaminated water can cause certain health problems including; skin irritation caused by contact with small larvae called cercarias, eye, ear and throat infections, among others. This is not the right way or strategy to attract government attention.

"Government is spending huge suns of money on quality healthcare for our people, and it is very unfair for one of our brothers to bath in dirty road water without considering the possible health hazards. He should never do that again.

"His subsequent arrest was never at the instance of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori. The law enforcement agents may have interpreted the actions of the young man to mean suicide attempt which is against the Law.

"Anything could have happened to him while taking his bath in dirty road water. It is a wrong strategy to protest or attract government attention.

"Governor Oborevwori is currently paying adequate attention to roads in Sapele local government area, and the other 24 local government areas in the state. The MORE Agenda implementation will go round the three senatorial districts.

"Government cannot handle all the dilapidated or bad roads at the same time. They shall be rehabilitated and reconstructed along with other categories of infrastructure in phases across the state.

"Governor Oborevwori is working round the clock to Advance Delta beyond 2027, and it is only fair to join hands with him to bring unprecedented development to our dear state," Oghenesivbe said.

He gave the charge while delivering keynote address at the official flag-off of Bridge FM Radio programme planning conference with the theme: "Programming for Effective Communication" in Asaba, the state capital.

Dr Oghenesivbe, identified effective communication as the backbone of any successful organization, including radio broadcasting, adding that broadcasters have the power to shape public opinion, influence cultural narratives, and provide vital information to diverse audiences.

He stated that quality programming can only be realized through strategic local contents that resonate with diverse audiences, pointing out that radio remains one of the most accessible and widely consumed media platforms globally.

The renowned communication Strategist said the broadcasting landscape is evolving rapidly, with digital radio expansion, podcasting growth, social media integration and streaming services rise, stressing the need for broadcasting organisations to invest in innovation and modern broadcast technology.

Dr Oghenesivbe, a member of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, ACSPN, posited that despite radio's potential, it face significant challenges in effective communication, which includes; information overload, diverse audience needs, rapid technological changes and increasing competition.

He pointed out that the modern audience is inundated with information from various sources, making it challenging to capture and retain their attention.

The Bureau Director General stated that radio audiences are diverse, with varying age groups, interests, cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic status, urging Bridge FM and broadcasting organisations to, on a regular basis, conduct audience research, create targeted content, Incorporate diverse voices and perspectives, and offer multilingual programming.

"The broadcasting market is increasingly competitive, with new entrants in radio and podcasting, online content providers and streaming services expansion.

"By acknowledging and addressing these challenges, Bridge FM Radio can refine its programming strategy to better serve its audience and maintain a competitive edge.

"You must strive to Know your audience and understand their needs, preferences, and values. Craft compelling content that informs, educates, and entertains.

"Diversity and inclusivity is necessary to showcase diverse perspectives and voices, foster dialogue and interaction through call-ins, social media, and community outreach.

"Broadcasting organisations must of a necessity leverage technology to enhance content delivery and audience engagement, monitor and respond to audience feedback.

Gov Oborevwori Focuses On Economic Growth, Prays for Detractors ~ Dr Latimore

.....Says Nigeria shall rise again, occupy rightful place at global stage

Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is prioritizing economic growth and development, while also praying for his detractors.

The governor will not join issues with his detractors no matter the level of provocation and baseless allegations, instead he will continue to use the state financial resources to upscale socioeconomic and infrastructure development, improve quality health care, enhance qualitative education, boost agricultural production and partner with the federal government and international development partners to create more jobs and wealth for the people.

Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, gave the assurance while speaking to newsmen during the celebration of Nigeria's 64th Independence anniversary at the Cenotaph Complex in Asaba on Tuesday.

He predicted that Nigeria shall rise again to genuinely occupy her enviable position as the economic giant of Africa, emhasizing the need for citizens to put Nigeria first, far and above individual interests, noting that lack of genuine patriotism and strong desire by some persons to amass wealth was responsible for corruption and mismanagement of resources in all tiers of government.

Dr Latimore noted that governor Oborevwori is always busy inspecting and commissioning projects, as well as presiding over multifaceted empowerment programmes since assumption of office, pointing out that the governor does not have any time left to respond to falsehood and media propaganda.

The Bureau Chief noted that governor Oborevwori is only interested in any conversation that would fast-track socioeconomic development and wellbeing of the people, which is why he will never apportion time to negative issues that may not add value to governance and wellbeing of our people.

He disclosed that those behind the recent peddling of falsehood, hate speech and baseless allegations against governor Oborevwori and the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, through the instrumentality of deliberate media propaganda, misinformation and  disinformation have been forgiven, but should sin no more, noting that the two leaders  resolved many years ago never to harbour grudges against anyone in adherence to biblical injunction enshrined in Leviticus 19:18.

Oghenesivbe outlined some of the achievements of governor Oborevwori within 16 months in office to include; ongoing construction of three mega flyovers, roads expansion and reconstruction of Effurun Roundabout flyover, financial assistance and grants to over 5,000 persons to expand small scale businesses, as well as the ongoing dualization of Ughelli-Asaba road.

Other projects currently receiving attention are; the various multi-million Naira underground water tunnels to solve erosion problems in some parts of Delta North, Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts, payment of counterpart funding of N1 billion to empower 2,000 farmers, upscaled beneficiaries of D-CARES programme from 36,353 to 208,209 persons within 16 months in office, distributed farm inputs to over 6,000 farmers to boost agricultural production, completed and commissioned the gigantic State High Court Complex, construction of new roads, as well as completion of inherited multifaceted infrastructure projects, among others.

"Governor Oborevwori is too busy to join issues with any politician or political detractors. His major focus is on economic growth, infrastructure development and wellbeing of the People.

"His track record within 16 months in office is amazing. The governor's monumental achievements obviously infuriates those who never expected the unprecedented heights of socioeconomic and infrastructural development within a short period of time. No apologies to them, because governor Oborevwori will sustain his good governance strides.

"My humble appeal to the governor's detractors is that they should join hands with him to Advance Delta. He's governor for all Deltans, ready to partner with all leaders and politicians across board.

"Delta first should be our collective slogan. If you love Delta, you will place her far and above personal interests. The governor truly love Delta as can be seen in the spread of development across the state.

"Nigeria shall rise again to occupy her enviable position as the economic giant of Africa. To achieve this feat we must put Nigeria first and above our individual interests.

"Our country, Nigeria is 64 years old from the day she got independence from Britain, our colonial master. The journey has been rough and tough, but we can do better.

"Nigeria is yet to make good use of the enormous resources God gave us as a nation. He gave this country everything a nation needs to be exceedingly great.

"Genuine patriotism will beget good governance, and good governance begets development and economic prosperity. Let's work harder and imbibe honesty to make our country great," Oghenesivbe said.
