School of Art and Social Sciences of the Delta State College of Education Mosogar held her 1st Annual National Conference in collaboration with Faculty of Social Sciences University of Benin,Benin City on Monday 7th October,2024.
The conference focused on the theme: Addressing Developmental Challenges Through Innovative Solutions In The Arts and Social Sciences: Africa Perspective.
Prof. Daniel Adetorise Tonwe (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences University of Benin, Benin City) delivered the keynote lecture,while Prof. Peter Ogbianigene Dania (Department of Social Studies,Delta State University Abraka) and Prof. Calister Obi (Department of Economics,Delta State University Abraka) were the lead paper presenters.
The Chairman, Governing Council,Delta State College of Education Mosogar,Chief Barr. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese,the Provost,Dr. Israel Imide,the Deputy Provost,Dr. Nathaniel Ethel ,the Registrar,Mr. Simon Fole, the College Liberian,Mr. Victor Ughuvwu ,Deans, Directors,HODs, Lecturers and Students were all in attendance.
Shortly after performing the opening ceremony of the conference,the College Provost, Dr Israel Imide who doubles as Chief Host,welcome everyone while he commended the organizers for the well thought-out theme geared towards profiling solutions to current societal challenges.
Dr. A.C. Onotere (Dean, School of Art and Social Sciences) who also doubles as host, appreciated the Chairman, Governing Council and College management for their huge support,while noting that the theme provided the framework for understanding human behavior, culture and society,which helped to explore complex narratives in providing solutions to human society.Adding that the theme has the potential to address pressing social issues and provide a platform for exchanging ground breaking research.
Dr. Mark Ogbinaka (Chairman,Local Organizing Committee) in his vote of thanks, appreciated everyone for attending the day1.
