TRIBUTE TO A TITAN OF NATIONHOOD AND NIGER DELTA CONSCIENCE ~ AMORI BID PA CLARK FAREWELL

PA EDWIN KIAGBODO CLARK.

On behalf of myself, my family, and the good people of Delta State, I, Chief Senator Ighoyota Amori, JP, Chief Adviser to the Executive Governor of Delta State, rise with deep respect and solemn gratitude to pay glowing tribute to a man whose life’s work defined an era, Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.

It is impossible to tell the story of Nigeria’s journey toward equity, federalism, and national inclusion without proudly engraving the name of Pa E.K Clark in golden letters. A lion-hearted patriot, an uncompromising defender of truth, and a lifelong advocate for the rights of minorities and the dignity of the Niger Delta people, Pa E.K Clark stood as a giant among men.

At the national level, he was a formidable presence, lending his voice to the defense of democracy, shaping public policy, and mentoring generations of political leaders. He spoke truth to power without fear or favour, always reminding Nigeria’s leadership of the founding ideals of justice, unity, and responsible governance.

To the Niger Delta and Delta State in particular, Pa E.K Clark was a moral compass and a voice of reason. His relentless advocacy for resource control, environmental justice, and regional development inspired movements, policies, and generations of activists and leaders. He embodied the hopes and aspirations of a people long yearning for justice and fair representation.

Indeed, even in his twilight years, Pa E.K Clark remained an active force of conscience. Notably, before his passing, he publicly appraised and endorsed the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State. Known for his integrity and unfiltered truth, Pa E.K Clark commended Governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and unwavering commitment to the development of Delta State.

He hailed the governor’s MORE Agenda as a forward-looking framework that speaks directly to the aspirations of the people, a plan not only addressing immediate developmental needs but also laying a solid foundation for long-term prosperity. Pa Clark described Governor Oborevwori as a “humble, mature, and purpose-driven servant-leader,” whose policies and people-centered approach have begun to yield visible transformation across the state.

For a man of such experience and stature, this was more than a casual commendation, it was a passing of the torch, a symbolic affirmation of continuity, vision, and hope.

Today, we do not merely mourn. We celebrate the life of a statesman, a father, and a true son of the soil whose footprints will forever remain engraved in the sands of Nigerian history. His voice may be silent, but his legacy echoes louder than ever, urging us all in leadership to act with honour, lead with conviction, and serve with truth.

May the Almighty grant his soul peaceful rest.

And may we, the living, carry forward his enduring legacy of justice, wisdom, and service to humanity.
