Ethiope West PDP Inaugurates Campaign Council (Photos)


 ....as Leaders, stakeholders call for unity to deliver Party Candidates

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State has inaugurated its campaign council for the local government elections slated for July 13, 2024. The event, held on Sunday at the Mosogar residence of the party's Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Chris Onogba officially launched the party’s campaigns for the Chairmanship and Councillorship seats in the local government council. 

Stakeholders at the inauguration ceremony unanimously resolved that the party must unite to win the election, emphasizing that victory would provide direction and serve as a springboard for consolidating before the 2027 general elections. 

While inaugurating the committee, Chairman of the PDP Leaders Forum in Ethiope West LGA, Chief Ighoyota Amori, urged party faithfuls to remain united to ensure victory in the July 13 LGA elections; just as he highlighted the inclusive nature of the campaign council, which includes the Coordinator from Oghara Kingdom, the Deputy Coordinator from Idjerhe Kingdom, and the Secretary from Mosogar Kingdom. 

Also speaking, Chairman of DESOPADEC, Olorogun John Obukohwo Nani, stressed that the election is beyond the contesting candidates. He stated that the large mammoth crowd at the event demonstrated the PDP's strength, adding that no other party could gather such a crowd or produce credible candidates like the PDP in the state. He pledged his support for the Chairmanship and all the Councillorship candidates. 

In the same vein, the former House of Representatives Member representing Ethiope East and West Constituency, Chief Ben Igbakpa, remarked that those present at the event represented the grassroots politicians in the local government. He urged the leaders to maintain the unity to achieve greater success in future elections. Comrade Sagboje Milton and  Chief Philo Ededey speaking for the youth and women respectively pledged to support the party candidates. 

In his address, the Party’s Chairmanship candidate, Chief Christian Onogba, promised to deliver quality leadership if elected. He assured that he would work in collaboration with his running mate and the 20 PDP Councillorship candidates in Ethiope West to leverage the experience of all the leaders to bring the dividends of democracy to the local government council. He emphasized the need to maintain party unity as the best strategy to defeat the opposition. He appealed to anyone who might be unhappy with their ticket or the councillors emergence to see it as an act of God. "We are not the best; we are just privileged to be chosen among the best. We thank our leaders for this privilege and assure them that we won't take it for granted." 

The Coordinator of the Ethiope PDP LGA Election Campaign Council, Chief Henry Eghwubare, expressed gratitude to the leaders, candidates, and party members for entrusting him with the leadership of the Campaign Council. He promised to justify the confidence reposed in him and other committee members and appealed to leaders and party members at all levels to support the committee’s efforts to ensure a seamless victory for all the candidates. "We have triumphed in this election already. We are only waiting for the swearing-in because we know that with the support of our leaders and the credibility of our candidates, we don't need much campaigning to win this election." 

The campaign council includes Chief Solomon Obareki as Chairman, Chief Henry Eghwubare as Coordinator, Hon. Evidence Igere as Deputy Coordinator, and Chief Anthony Agboma, Ph.D., as Secretary. Other key members include Chief Ighoyota Amori, Olorogun John Nani, Chief Emmanuel Ighomena, Chief Ben Igbakpa, Chief Anthony Akpomiemie, Hon. Ejiro Etacherure, Pastor Godwin Akpovie, Chief Duncan Ewhere, Chief Austin Atiti, Chief Philo Ededey, Chief Mrs. Happy Otojareri, Hon. Isaac Omomedia, Hon. Benjamin Oboh, Chief Young Afighi, the Chairmanship candidate, Chief Christian Onogba, and his Vice, Hon. Austine Atomre, among others. 

Chief Amori also inaugurated Sub-committees and their heads include: Chief John Nani (Finance), Chief Ben Igbakpa (Security), Pastor Godwin Akpovie (Religious engagement),  Comrade Sagboje Odiri Milton (Media and Publicity), Chief Austin Atiti (Protocol), 

Others are: Chief Duncan Ewhere (Venue), Mrs. Patience Akpeninor (Women Mobilization), and Chief Philomena Ededey (Welfare/Entertainment) respectively.
