URHOBO WORLD UNITED UNION UWUU HONOURS GREAT PATRIOTS ACROSS URHOBO NATION.

It was a glamour of culture as Urhobo World United Union UWUU Lagos zone celebrated 1year anniversary at the week end@LCCI conference & exhibition centre Ikeja -Lagos.

The event was one of his kind in history of Urhobo nation as Urhobo sons and daughters across Lagos State and other part of the country gathered in their traditional attires to celebrates our rich cultural heritage and honoured some of our great patriots and icons who distinguished themselves in various professional fields and in their services to humanity.

Highlight of the event was the award section,which saw the recipients expressed their gratitudes to the President General of UWUU Hon Akpesiri Omorhokpor Gcfr and the entire members of UWUU for counting them worthy of the lifetime Achievements Award from Urhobo nation.

The award recipients includes our 87years old Pa.Prof.Bruce Onobrakpeya,who was highly elated by the honour and what the Urhobo Youths are doing in bringing everyone together.Pa.Tony Bruce,Alibaba, Akpesiri Omorhokpor,Mudi-Africa were among the recipients.

Pa.Tony Bruce aka Zaky speaking onbehalf of the cross section of Urhobos in the entertainment industry, expressed his gratitudes to UWUU.However,sound a note of displeasure over the way Urhobos in the entertainment industry are taking Urhobo social events with levity,while the Igbos associates with their people during their traditional or cultural event.He noted that,love  should be seen and practice among us as a people.

The event featured the election of new executive under the chairmanship of Comr.Joshua Omonemu to pilot the affairs of UWUU Lagos branch for the next 2years.

Present at the event are  great Urhobo traditional chiefs,Chief Vincent Ahwi"The Osu"R'Urhobo of Lagos,Chiefs from Urhobo Progress Union Ikeja,Apapa and Ikorodun Branch,Urhobo Women Council, Urhobo "Soso"Club Lagos, Urhobo Youth Association (UYA),Chief Ejiro AKurame of clinic matters,press members and other great Urhobo fathers,Sons and daughters.

Urhobo Children Cultural dance here in lagos,were also part of the warm cultural atmosphere, as they grilled everyone in Urhobo traditional dance steps and melodious voices to the amusement of our traditional fathers and everyone present.This means catching them young,to preserved our cultural values from going into extinction.

The event ended with an exhibition of various Urhobo food stuff,Drugs,and wears.

UYA DELTA PRESIDENT SHARED HIS THOUGHT ON URHOBO NATION.

Comr.Crested Gometi shared his mind on Urhobo Youth Association and other matters on urhobo nation on this interview with our crew.


Please can you introduce yourself sir?

 I am G.O Crested UYA president Delta chapter.I hail from Okwagbe community in Ughelli South LGA Delta State.


How has it been 6days after your inauguration in Lagos?

It has been so smooth my dear.


So far.......have you be able to constitute your carbinet ?

Yes,100% .


Working with people of different background and status is not easy,how do you intend to steer the ship of UYA to greater heights?

Allowing the cooperate aims/objectives of UYA to prevail at all time irrespective of my personal target.


If you are given the opportunity,as the national president,what would you like to change about the Association and it's aim/objectives?

The key is just to understand the fact that individuals are unique in their own way ....Everyone has something to offer.


Being a leader in a group means you have to tolerate a lot!are you one with such attribute?

This depends on the amount of experience of every individuals and Personality type.....you will see it as we progress.


What would you like to change about the Constitution and objectives of UYA on the interim?

Change is constant.... The society is dynamic. The need for change comes when the  society changes and situations will tell  if there is need for amendment....


Building a group is an onerous task,will you be willing to hand over the leadership to someone else after building the group to an enviable height....maybe next year?

Absolutely yes,this is not my first time of building....


How do you intend to run your chapter meetings......is it in tandem with the parent body or something different?

Every second week of the month.


As a leader of the group,how do you intend to carry everyone along in the scheme of operations?

The atyemat to please everyone might not lead us to the promised land.However,I can assure you that all those who stand to follow the cooperate/acceptable part will be fully carried along.


We have come to experience caucus or G7 in a group,what can you do to break such formation in your group?

Giving attention to distractios is not of the qualities of a good leadership.People are free to join any group they wish.However,if the group (s)is not working towards the Achievement of the association objectives,then it will be manage or handle by the association constitution.


Working in line with the constitution means defaulters will be  sanctioned?will such leader not be regarded as tough and rigid?

Flexibility is required to lead well ,but flexibility without no result is of no purpose.Any change we want to make must start from you and I.


Can you tell us one or two major goals you want to achieve as d president of delta chapter that will bring about positive impact to the youth and urhobo nation at Large?

1.To foester unity among Urhobo sons and daughters.
2.To creates an atmosphere that will enable us achieve cooperate and personal needs easily.


Most groups are usually hijacked by politicians especially after rendering support or contribution to the group. Is this group going to be different and how do you intend to do it?

This can't happen when we all have the understanding that whatever politician give,it's not from his/her pocket.It's our right.


Do you think there’s any role relevance or public/association partnership UYA can explore with the government of Delta state?

Absolutely, the government is not as bad as people see them from distance.There won't have be office of the commissioner of youths,if they do not have positive plans for the youths.We will always mention to the Government where we need their assistance.


Knowing this fact,do you think the government of Delta state would rather want to deal with UYA?

We are part of the Government,there can not be government without us.We have several roles to play to make the Government of our time successful. Its our responsibility to remind the Government to assist our people in areas where they need assistance.


In few days time, precisely next week Saturday, the national body will be in delta state for some social functions and official inauguration ceremony of the delta chapter, how prepared are you and your team to make sure we have a successful inauguration?

We are fully ready.


Can you educate us on the distinction and uniqueness of UYA from other Associations and Unions however styled e.g. UPU

~The only difference is that UYA is purely a youths affairs


The ignos are known as business traders of Nigeria,the Yorubas are known as scholars and who predominantly occupied the administrative of govt and private sector and
the Hausas or northerners occupied the military and government parastatals.So what are we known for?

 ~We are known as the landlord of Nigeria major resources.....we are not illiterate, we are traders too.

What is your message to Urhobo Youth out there?

Every Urhobo Youth should associate with UYA,is a legal body that is duely registered under the law,to push for the interest of our youth.And they should shun violence and work for peace,so that Urhobo can be position and be on a good pedestrian.

BRIDGE COLLAPSED IN JONATHAN HOME TOWN

The major brigde connecting Emeya,Kolo and Otuoke community former president

Jonathan village in Ogbia Local Government Area,Yenagoe Bayelsa state has collapsed.

The 33years brigde collapsed under the weight of heavy truck,as lamented by one of the community elect president Emeya Youth Council, Precious Ikolo.According to him the brigde which was constructed since 1986,has not been maintained by the government.

Commuters were seen stranded,as they used canoe to go about their daily economic activities.

There was no life lost as the driver and other 3 passengers were rescued alive with minor injuries.

BREAKING NEWS....ROBERT MUGABE IS DEAD.

Former president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe died in the early hour of Friday.

He died around 3:33a.m this early morning.

The former president who was the longest president of the country since post independence in 1980,was succeeded by his deputy His Excellency Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2017 after a protracted protest in the country calling for his stepping down.

His problem started due to the alleged maltreatment of his wife the estwhile first lady Grace Mugabe on key officials of the government and embezzlement of public funds.

Robert Mugabe died at age 95.

He will be greatly missed by Zimbabwean and the entire Africa Continent.

My condolences to Zimbabwe nation and the continent of Africa.

The world is dynamics with its bundles of challenges,but rise to conquer and overcome one.Never give up and never quit from what is possible to achieve in the means of the trials.

Face your fears and conquer the trauma of pains suffered from those who never believes in your strength,rather capitalize on your weaknesses, forgetting we are just a product of imperfections.

Senator Douye Diri representing Bayelsa central Senatorial District at the national assembly,has emerged as the People Democratic party (PDP)Governorship candidate for November 16,2019 Bayelsa state governorship election.

He pulled a total of 561 votes to beat his closest rival chief Ndutimi Alaibe who pulled 365votes at of 1,244 total accredited delegates.

Announcing the result by the electoral chairman Governor Darius Ishaka of Taraba state congratulated the winner and admonished all the aspirants to accept the outcome in good faith,as people who belongs to one family.

The state Congress was well attended by all the major stakeholders of the party in Bayelsa state including former president Goodluck Jonathan,current governor of Bayelsa state Hon.Seriake Dickson e.t.c

South-Africa age long xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals is currently on going in some major cities in South Africa.

Nigerians living in South Africa doing businesses has suffered heavy lost of properties and their businesses burt down.

Meanwhile, president Ramophosa has condemned the attacked on foreign national.......the SA president said the urgly accidents could lead to the attack of their citizens in other countries.The president therefore called for the arrest of the perpetrators.

However,the federal government of Nigeria has summon the SA high commissioner to explain the attacked,which he denied today.

The federal government has pledged total support for all her
citizens in South-Africa.

In the same manner,Nigerians protested to ShopRite in Lekki with attempt to break into the Lekki arm of the SA national business,but were resisted by the Nigeria police.

LET UNITY DEFINE OUR TRUE ESSENCE IN URHOBO NATION.

Practically,I will support whatever course, gathering and association that brings us together as a people.A course that defined us with a common identity, common genesis and push us to the path of preserving our cultural heritage.

As we move into the politics of 2023,it is now we must start building bridges of love, harmony, forgiveness and unity across Urhobo nation.

We must be apolitical when it comes to the interest of the general good of Urhobo nation.

I commend the Urhobo Progress Union America(UPUA) led by Dr.Bernice Onome for well attended and organised event,aims at uniting us at their Annual convention held in Loews Philadelphia Hotel, Philadelphia United States of America.

I commend HRM Richard Oghenevwogaga Ebelle,Okorefe 1  of Agbarha-otor Kingdom,Chief Sen.Ighoyota Amori,Francis Waver,Chief Moses Taiga UPU National president and other notable dignitaries,and Urhobo sons and daughters living in Dispora.

We must let unity defined our true essence in Urhobo nation.
