DELTA STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, MOSOGAR, WELCOMED COMMISSIONER OF HIGHER EDUCATION, SHOWCASES INSTITUTIONAL PROGRESS AND FUTURE ASPIRATIONS.


 

In a gesture of appreciation and partnership, the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar, hosted the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, highlighting ongoing development efforts and future ambitions to elevate the institution. The Provost of the College, Dr. Israel Imide warmly welcomed the Commissioner and his entourage, expressing gratitude for their steadfast support and commitment to enhancing the college's facilities and programs on Thursday 7th November,2024.

In his address, the Provost acknowledged Prof. Tonukari’s instrumental role in the college’s progress, particularly in securing funding essential for the institution’s incoming convocation and accreditation exercises, underscoring the Commissioner’s advocacy in securing funds and facilitating essential upgrades. The Provost further commended the Commissioner for securing plans for a new female hostel—a critical addition to the college’s infrastructure.

In addition, the Provost extended appreciation to Rt Hon. Chief (Barr.)Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese, Chairman of the Governing Council, for his role in advancing the college's infrastructure. Specifically, he lauded Hon. Emeyese’s successful efforts to include the vital link road between Campus 1 and Campus 2 in the ministry’s project portfolio. The Provost went on to highlight additional institutional needs, urging the Commissioner to address these areas as part of his ongoing support for the college’s growth.

In his remarks, Prof. Tonukari expressed his admiration for the college's achievements and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that its needs are met. He spoke with optimism about the college’s future, emphasizing that the state government remains steadfast in its support of educational institutions like the College of Education, Mosogar.

During the visit, the Provost led the Commissioner and his entourage through various campus projects, showcasing the college’s commitment to improvement and modernization. The group visited the sites of the new library, the new administrative block where the commissioner met and talked with the engineers on site, Additionally, they toured the site of the college’s car park and mini-market.

The Commissioner’s entourage included Mrs. Bridget Odobor, the Acting Permanent Secretary; Mr. Godwin Ikenyi, D.A.; Mr. Austin Hanwansa, DFA; Mrs. Patricia Richard, TER; Mrs. Stella Maidoh, DRE; Mr. Anthony Novaka, DPRS; Mr. Anyuma Chukwurah, DNSP; Dr. Omoefe, SSA; Ms. Betty Muje, PRO; Mrs. Abigail Eboni; Mr. Dennis Dieodemese; and Mr. Christian Ogbaudu, CEO. 

The Provost was joined by key college officials, including the Governing council Chairman Hon. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese, Deputy Provost Dr. Nathaniel Ethe, Registrar Mr. Simon Fole, Bursar Mrs. Joan Inomi, the librarian Victor oghuvwu, the PRO Mr. Shedrack Ahiabie, and the Director of work and maintenance Engr. Anthony Okakuro , including Deans, Directors, HODs and units heads, all of whom have been integral to the college’s operational and academic advancements.

As the visit concluded, the college

community reflected on the positive impact of the Commissioner’s support and the potential for future advancements.
