Gov Oborevwori, Okowa solid relationship normal, shall be sustained ~ Oghenesivbe

.....Says MORE agenda positive impact on citizens baffles opposition, detractors

Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, has said that the cordial relationship between the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, and the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, is normal, ideal and shall be sustained throughout the lifespan of this administration, and beyond.

He made the assertion on Sunday in a phone-in live interview with a popular radio network News, saying that the exclusive and personalized leadership style adopted by governor Oborevwori since he assumed office on May 29, 2023, clearly revealed that the immediate past governor, Senator Okowa's shadow does not and will never reflect in decision making and governance issues as mischievously alleged by those who does not mean well for the state.

Dr Oghenesivbe, assured that governor Oborevwori will continue to sustain his robust relationship with Senator Okowa and other past governors, as well as  political leaders across the three senatorial districts irrespective of political affiliations, and not minding the pains and agony it would inflict on those deeply troubled by the watertight relationship existing in the state's leadership and political structures.

The Communication Bureau Chief, disclosed that immediate past governor, Senator Okowa does not interfere with governance issues in Delta State, nothing that some persons who are currently exhibiting dual personality in early preparation for the 2027 general elections in the state, are too quick to initiative media attacks on their perceived opponents, noting that such media strategy may in some ways impact negatively on reputation and political relevance.

Oghenesivbe said governor Oborevwori is a pragmatic and humble leader who would not want to join issues with any politician, no matter the level of divisive strategies and media propaganda sponsored against this administration, pointing out that the governor remain focused on the ongoing meticulous implementation of his MORE agenda which had impacted positively on the socioeconomic wellbeing of all Deltans.

He appealed to governor Oborevwori's detractors to have a change of heart, and join hands with him to advance Delta beyond 2027, assuring that come 2027, Government House Asaba will not be vacant, because the good governance strides coupled with the exclusive and personalized leadership style of the governor will speak very loud at the polls.

Oghenesivbe, advised media executives, bloggers, social media influencers, online newspapers publishers and practicing journalists in the state to continue to showcase the mega projects embarked upon by the governor across the three senatorial districts, urging them to come up with useful suggestions and constructive criticisms that would  enhance the good governance strides of governor Oborevwori.

He commended Journalists in the state under the highly proactive and result oriented leadership of Comrade Churchill Oyowe, for adhering strictly to ethical standards, and for exhibiting high standard of professionalism in the discharge of their constitutionally assigned responsibility as watchdogs of society, and as members of the fourth estate of the realm.

Oghenesivbe, said Journalists are critical partners in governance and nation building, urging them not to make themselves available to mischief makers, self centered politicians and vindictive elements who are hell bent on fueling unnecessary media wars, hate speech, fake news and media propaganda capable of causing breach of peace, insecurity and divisive tendencies.

He emphasized on the need for collective synergy to sustain peaceful coexistence, devoid of tribal or ethnic sentiments, noting that governor Oborevwori has performed creditably well, and beyond expectations of Deltans within 15 months in office and counting.

"The social media is flooded with divisive media propaganda sponsored by some political gladiators, aimed at causing hate, promote ethnic and tribal sentiments or considerations. Their focus is on governor Sheriff Oborevwori and immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON.

"The simple gospel truth is that  governor Oborevwori and Senator Okowa remain united. Their robust relationship shall continue. Media propaganda cannot separate the two indefatigable leaders.

"That same measure of solid relationship also exist between governor Oborevwori, other past governors and political leaders in the state, irrespective of political affiliations. The leadership style of our amiable governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, JP, is unique, personalized and does not fuse with that of any past governor.

"Political observers and the good people of Delta State, are aware that governor Oborevwori's good Governance strategies and leadership style is not comparable to that of any past governor in the state. His leadership style is incredibly different from Senator Okowa's exclusive style.

"Okowa does not interfere and will never interfere with governance issues under Oborevwori. And as great leaders of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, they are bonded together in political leadership, and may consult each other on issues that would move our party forward, deliver dividends of democracy to all Deltans.

"The MORE Agenda implementation is on course, and the positive socioeconomic impact is visible in the quality of life and wellbeing of our people. The governor will continue to fucus on the fulfilment of his social contract with all Deltans, irrespective of political affiliation, religion or tribe.

"Governor Oborevwori cares, and it is only fair that we appreciate his visionary leadership and good governance strides. Let's join hands with him to Advance Delta beyond 2027," Oghenesivbe said.

Nigeria @ 64: Delta Bureau Chief Urges Nigerians to Shun Fraudsters, Cultivate Moral Values

As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence anniversary, Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has called on Nigerians to stop celebrating fraudsters and unscrupulous elements.

Dr Oghenesivbe, gave the charge while speaking as special guest of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and a popular radio talkshow in Asaba on Saturday. He emphasized that this culture of celebrating ill-gotten wealth has contributed to the country's socioeconomic woes and moral decay.

He lamented that 64 years after Independence, Nigeria's reputation was fast dwindling at the global stage due to acute corruption and primitive accumulation of wealth by some corrupt leaders, noting that looting of public funds had become endemic and a way of life, which is why the younger generation of Nigerians no longer believe in patriotism, moral values and integrity.

He urged parents, foster parents and children caregivers to consistently inculcate positive moral values, patriotism and fear of God in their children, pay attention to their needs, and ensure that they keep the right company all through to adulthood, so as to avoid polluting society with hardened criminals with little or no value for human lives.

He noted that until corrupt and morally bankrupt leaders begin to do the right things through genuine attitudinal change, show remorse by voluntarily returning stolen public funds and abstain from primitive accumulation of wealth, the nation will consistently slide deeper into socioeconomic woes, while the poor will continue to be poorer because of the unscrupulous transactions of greedy leaders in high places.

Dr Oghenesivbe who is also a full member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA, urged the federal government to urgently do something positive about the negative image of Nigeria in the comity of nations, through deliberate and transparent efforts in the fight against corruption.

He noted that war against corruption based on selective justice will do the nation no good, adding that recent media reports allegedly linking some senior government officials to executive bribery and strategic corruption in the case of transgender Bobrisky, had dealt a big blow on the nation's reputation, home and abroad, while commending federal lawmakers for initiating investigation into the matter.

The Bureau Chief noted that the lifestyle of transgender Bobrisky and his type had impacted negatively on the younger generation, urging governments at all levels to enact laws that would prohibit bad and negative influences perceived to be repugnant to our values and beliefs as Africans, even if it requires constitutional amendments to get it right.

"We thank God that Nigeria is still united. That's the only thing that I see in us as a nation, 64 years after Independence.

"Nearly, if not all sectors of the nation's economy, are in comatose. Inflation is at its peak at between 34% and 38% high. The Naira has become powerless, exchanging at N1,700 to one United States Dollar, while poverty is already killing our people more than any known killer disease.

"The cause of all theses non-achievements is bad leadership and corruption. Nigeria is on her kneels today because of greedy leaders who consistently ransacked and looted our common treasury with the aid of wicked financial experts who in time past and even now helped them to balance the books.

"God gave Nigeria everything that a nation would need to become exceeding great, but we mismanaged God's special gifts to our nation. We need to cry to God for forgiveness. We are taking God's grace for granted. Time to repent is now.

"Until we genuinely begin to question ill-gotten wealth, stop celebrating fraudsters and unscrupulous elements in Nigeria, we shall continue in this trajectory of socioeconomic retrogression and morally bankrupt society.

"At 64, Nigeria is still looking for ways and means to feed her citizens, provide enduring social services and qualitative education to her teeming youth population. It is that bad. Insecurity is destroying the very fabric of our nation. We have been overwhelmed by too many self inflicted challenges, and counting.

"I weep for Nigeria, the giant of Africa that is still crawling at 64. Our leaders must have attitudinal change, repent genuinely from massive looting of our treasuries, and show good example for the younger generation to emulate.

"Our youths have gone haywire, no longer interested in moral values, integrity and love for country. majority of them  abandoned classrooms for yahoo yahoo advance fee fraud criminal activities, and some morally bankrupt members of society are busy celebrating them. It's a big pity.

"To get Nigeria working, we must begin to question the sudden wealth of those who live in affluence without visible and genuine means of livelihood. This is where to begin a new journey to a greater Nigeria," Oghenesivbe averred.
