Resilience, inestimable love, unity and discipline flowing from Delta State convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday, has indeed expanded the winning supremacy of the ruling party in future elections.

Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe while speaking to newsmen at the PDP State Convention, assured that the party is well positioned under governor Sheriff Oborevwori pragmatic leadership to relegate all opposition parties to the background of political history in 2027 general elections.

He noted that PDP in the state is determined to do the needful to keep Deltans united, progressive and prosperous through the good governance strides of the state governor, as can be seen from mega projects embarked upon by the State government, adding that  opposition parties still have lot to learn from the ruling PDP in the state.

Oghenesivbe, said the party leader in the state and governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is leading by example and the entire party structure and political appointees are queuing solidly behind him to bring about quality dividends of democracy to the good people of Delta State as encapsulated in his MORE agenda.

Tourism: Delta is Beautiful campaign 'll boost local, foreign investment ~ Bureau DG

 .....Says Araya Bible Site attracts Christian pilgrims to Nigeria

Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that tourism business is undergoing tremendous transformation under the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as more resorts and luxury hotels dots the state.

He made the disclosure in Asaba when the Senior Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism Development to the Governor, Ambassador Huxley Adiniebo Unumadu, paid him a courtesy visit, saying that foreigners and Nigerians from all walks of life are daily arriving the state, either to enjoy their vacations or to visit tourist sites with a view to investing heavily in the tourism sector.

Dr Oghenesivbe named some of the tourist attraction sites to include; the famous Araya Bible Site with  Pool of Bethesda and a prayer altar in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state; the Mount Ned Nwoko Resorts which sits 1000 feet above sea level, making it the highest point in Delta State, and the Ibru International Ecumenical Centre in Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area, which welcomes visitors and guests for retreats, spiritual solace and pilgrimages.

Other tourists sites which holiday makers crave for in Delta, according to the Bureau Chief are; the Mungo Park House in Asaba, built by the Royal Niger Company in 1886, and occupied by Mungo Park, a Scottish explorer who was the first westerner to stay in the first Government House in Nigeria, pointing out that Asaba was the Administrative Headquarters of the then Southern protectorate.

The Mandela Garden in Asaba, Nanna Living History Museum in Koko, Okpe Beaders in Orerokpe, the beautiful serene of Focados River in Bomadi, the Gana Gana Island of Okwagbe, the Ibori Gold and Country Club in Asaba, Maryam Babangida Leisure Park Asaba, Delta Films Village Asaba, beaches in Abraka, Ethiope East LGA, and several tourist sites spread across the state.

Oghenesivbe noted that tourists are shifting focus to Delta, because of the good measure of peace and security across the three senatorial districts, coupled with huge infrastructure and socioeconomic development embarked upon by governor Oborevwori, adding that the state government will stop at nothing to make the state number first choice destination for local and international tourists and holiday makers.

He said the Araya Bible Site in Igbide community, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, is a holy destination for Christian pilgrims from all over the world, adding that in 1942, a holy bible surfaced on top of Yams in a farm at Araya, wherein rain fell heavily but the holy book was not wet, and which was why a holy site was developed there to serve as Christians pilgrimage destination in Africa.

He further disclosed that the Araya Bible Site has a "Prayer Altar" and a miraculous stream referred to as the "Pool of Bathsheba" known for its inestimable divine powers to heal all manner of sicknesses, afflictions and diseases, noting that the site has become a major spiritual reference point in the history of Christian worship and spiritual growth in Nigeria.

The Director General assured that the State Orientation and Communications Bureau will do the needful to project the Araya Bible Site, and other tourist locations locally and internationally, to project Delta State as a major hub for christians holy pilgrimage, among others.

Oghenesivbe assured the SSA to governor Oborevwori on Culture and Tourism, that the Bureau will stop at nothing to ensure the successful launch of project DELTA IS BEAUTIFUL, which would showcase the tourism potentials of the state, noting that tourism is a mega money spinning business, and would upscale the internally generated revenue of the state, as well as create thousands of jobs, create wealth opportunities for Deltans across board; graduates, professionals, artisans and unskilled workers.

"Tourism is an integral part of socioeconomic development which focuses on spiritual, physical and mental relaxation of body and soul, and also ensure refreshing moments for our people and visitors. 

"Development of Tourist sites is an important programme in the ongoing implementation of  governor Oborevwori's MORE agenda, a deliberate effort to Advance Delta beyond 2027. It's a money spinning business anywhere in the world, and Delta will not be an exception. All hands must be on deck to develop the tourism industry in Delta State.

"Delta is Beautiful campaign which your office is promoting is commendable. As a Bureau which focuses on sensitization and strategic communication of government policies, programmes and achievements. we are very much ready to join efforts with your office to drive the projects to fruition.

"Tourism will create thousands of jobs and wealth for our people, while government IGR will continue to soar as hoteliers and industry players pay taxes and levies to state treasury. We are in this together, and feel free to always walk in to cross fertilize ideas with us," Dr Oghenesivbe said.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism Development to Delta State Governor, Ambassador Huxley Adiniebo Unumadu, disclosed that DELTA IS BEAUTIFUL campaign is conceptualized to showcase the rich culture and tourism heritage of Delta State, adding that the sites and locations would be captured in print advertorials and visual documentary which would be published and aired on local and international media to project Delta as a major player at the global tourism stage.

He stated that project 'Delta is Beautiful'  is to identify and project the multi-ethnic diverse cultural heritage of the state, present the beautiful tourist destinations to boost patronage, and to create wealth for both investors and practitioners.

"The huge benefit of this result oriented campaign to make tourism a major revenue earner to the state government, make the sector more vibrant and viable in line with the MORE Agenda of our amiable and visionary  governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, JP.

"This project requires the participation and contributions of the State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Local Government Councils and stakeholders. We strongly recommend that every local government council chairman should set up a Tourism Committee to serve as tour guides to tourists and visitors.

 ......Urges Online Newspaper editors to activate gatekeeping antenna 

Online newspaper editors in Nigeria have been advised to deploy and fully utilize traditional gatekeeping measures before publishing stories and articles, to avoid fake news and  misinformation.

Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr (Barrister) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, gave the advise on Wednesday, while speaking as guest of Bridge FM Radio's prime time talkshow, the "Bridge Parliament," saying that the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is yet to borrow a kobo from any bank or financial institution either in Nigeria or anywhere in the world.

He noted that governor Oborevwori's vision for Delta through the MORE agenda is unfolding rapidly as can be seen from the ongoing mega roads and other infrastructure projects across the state, assuring that the state government will continue to prudently manage the commonwealth of Deltans to upscale their socioeconomic prosperity, as well as do more in the area of mega infrastructure development.

He disclosed that the N40Billion upfront facility which local government councils secured to pay pensioners is being deducted at source on a monthly basis by the banks from each member of the Association of Local Government Of Nigeria, ALGON, share of federal allocations, and that the state government merely guaranteed the facility as perfectly explained by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, on Monday.

He said an online newspaper went ahead to publish the unfounded allegation levelled against the state governor without cross checking facts with relevant government officials, describing the content of the publication as unfortunate, misleading, distasteful, unpatriotic, inappropriate and libelous as enriched in extant media laws, and Journalism ethics.

The Director General of the state Orientation and Communications Bureau noted with displeasure that the reading public is gradually loosing confidence in some of the online newspapers and bloggers due to frequent publication of unfounded allegations, half truth and deliberate misinformation, adding that it was and still the responsibility of editors  to cross check facts, claims and allegations levelled against individuals, organisations or governments at all levels before giving approval for such materials to be published or disseminated through multifaceted channels and platforms.

"Individuals and organisations are free to send all kinds of press statements or other materials for publication and for broadcast.

"However, it is the assigned responsibility of editors and subeditors as Professional gatekeepers to do their job by way of verifying facts and figures to determine whether or not such materials are credible and factual enough to benefit the reading public.

"It is not on record in any bank or financial institution in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world that the governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori borrowed a Kobo for any reasons whatsoever. It's a big joke, a black lie and should be disregarded by Deltans and by extension Nigerians.

"The truth as explained by the State Honourable Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza was exactly what transpired, and the true position of things. The Association of Local Government Chairmen agreed to obtain a N40 Billion credit facility to be deducted monthly from their federal allocations within five years, which the state government guaranteed. 

*It was not a loan obtained by the State Government. Governor Oborevwori is naturally allergic to accessing loans. He is aware of the biblical injunction against borrowing, wherein God said expressly that the borrower is a servant to the lender. It's never a thing of pride to borrow, either money or anything for that matter," Oghenesivbe said.

And on Delta State at 33; Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe said Deltans as a people are proud of the remarkable achievements made since 1999, and will continue to have good stories to tell about their state.

He was full of praises for past military administrators and governors for their substantial and visible contributions to the development of the state, and assured that governor Oborevwori's eight years tenure which terminates on May 29, 2031 by the grace of God, shall Advance Delta, and that his legacies shall be monumental and difficult for his successors to surpass.

Oghenesivbe commended the visionary leadership of governor Oborevwori, his passion to consistently upscale socioeconomic and infrastructure development, advancement of the educational sector, sports and tourism development, improvement on agriculture, accessible quality health care, partnership for economic growth and industrialization, and many more as encapsulated in the MORE Agenda currently undergoing rapid implementation.

He was appointed as the new substantive Registrar, having emerged as the overall winner in today's interview conducted by the Governing Council of the College at the College Governing Council Chamber.

The Day 2 which was tagged "URHOBO DAY"  to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the great Urhobo people witnessed various sons and daughters across UK colourfully dressed in their special traditional attires alongside Urhobo leaders who graced the event from Nigeria in the Light House Hall, Camberwell Road, London on Sunday 25th April,2024.

Words are not enough to thank my indefatigable leader and Boss, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, JP, for appointing me as Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau. By this appointment he practically and morally lifted my spirit.  Thank you, again and again, my good Boss.

To the Immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, I say a big thank you for investing heavily to sharpen my skills and capacity. He approved several capacity building training programmes for me, and also paid all fees and expenses for my Professional Doctorate Degree in Information and Communication Management Strategy. Chief Senator Ighoyota Amori, and Hilary Ibegbulem facilitated by appointment as Executive Assistant on Communications to Governor Okowa in 2017, and that singular move has been yielding positive results. Chief Amori is indeed a genuine Urhobo leader, who cares so very much for all and sundry. As you read this message, he's in far way United Kingdom and the United States of America, overseeing the ongoing conventions of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU. Okowa, Amori commends Gov Oborevwori over Oghenesivbe's appointment as DG DSOCB

Immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, has congratulated the newly appointed Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe.

Dr Okowa in a goodwill message to his former Executive Assistant on Communications, Barrister Oghenesivbe, said the appointment came at the right time, and well deserved.

The Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON,  commended governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for making an excellent choice, and for adding Communications to the assigned responsibilities of the Bureau, saying that the new DG's wealth of experience, vast knowledge, professional competence and multifaceted skills in strategic Communications cannot be over emphasized.

The immediate past governor, popularly referred to as "The Road Master" due to his landmark achievements in roads infrastructure development across the state, urged Barrister Latimore Oghenesivbe to justify his appointment by discharging his duties without blemish.

In the same vein, a former senator representing the good people of Delta Central Senatorial District under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and prominent leader of Urhobo Nation, Chief Ighoyota Amori, thanked governor Oborevwori for the appointment.

He noted that Barrister Oghenesivbe has  proven to be a courageous, efficient and dedicated public servant, as can be seen from his professional expertise in media management and result oriented communication strategies deployed in the course of his duties in al facets of the state development since he came on board in 2017.

Senator Amori, who is currently attending and supervising national conventions of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, in the United Kingdom and Florida, in the United States of America, sent his goodwill message, saying that  Oghenesivbe's new responsibility is essentially critical and strategic in the ongoing implementation of the governor's MORE Agenda,.

The former Chairman of Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency, emphasized the need for creativity, new innovations and high productivity to enable the Bureau set new enviable standards, urging the new DG to roll up his sleeves for the huge task ahead.

Chief Amori commended governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership, and for deeming it necessary to recognize Oghenesivbe's inestimable loyalty, work tenacity and valuable contributions to the development of the state, through impactful communication strategies and effective media Management.

The news of Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe's appointment as Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, has been rocking the airwaves and social media platforms in the state and beyond since Thursday.

The first goodwill message came from the Delta State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, wherein the State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyovwe.

The Union described Dr Oghenesivbe as a special friend and worthy ally, expressing confidence in the ability of the new DG to deliver on his assigned responsibilities, while appreciating governor Oborevwori for doing the needful at the right time.

Oghenesivbe, while reacting to his new appointment, thanked governor Oborevwori for finding him worthy of the new roles, and pledged his unalloyed loyalty and dedication to duty. 

Dr Oghenesivbe served the immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, as Executive Assistant on Communications from 3rd April, 2017 to May 29, 2023. 

He was reappointed as Executive Assistant on Orientation and Communications/Head of Bureau  by governor Oborevwori from November 6, 2023 to 18th August, 2024.

Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe is a renowned Communication Strategist and Media Manager; a member of the International Communication Association, ICA, Full member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA, Member, Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, ACSPN, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch, NBA, Member, Rotary Club of Akowonjo, District 9110 where he served as two time Club Secretary and Past Vice President, among others 

He is happily married to Esther Latimore Oghenesivbe, and they are blessed with wonderful children.

One of the prominent Ambassadors of the African Union Agenda 2063, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management, CIISM, Dr Leonard Oghenetega Obie, has described the newly appointed Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, as a top class professional and communication scholar of high repute. 

Dr Obie in a goodwill message on Saturday said the new DG will bring to bear his wealth of experience to deliver on his assigned responsibilities at the Bureau, judging from his track records in public service in the past nearly one decade and counting.

He thanked the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori for making a fantastic choice in the person of Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe, while urging the governor not to relent in his good governance strides, especially in the area of socioeconomic and infrastructure development of the entire state.

Ambassador Obie assured that with Dr Latimore fully in charge of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, new innovations, creativity and high productivity would significantly project the inestimable performance of governor Oborevwori, as he continue to advance Delta through the instrumentality of his MORE Agenda.

Ethiope West Political Leaders Forum,an umbrella body of the entire leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State has expressed satisfaction over the conducts of Ward and LGA Congresses of the party held on July 27th and August 10th respectively.

In a communique issued at the end of meeting held at the Mosogar Country home of Sen(Chief) Dr. Ighoyota Amori JP on Friday 16th August,2024,the leaders affirmed that the processes which led to the emergence of Hon. Vincent Abobo as Chairman of the party and other Executive Committee members during the LGA Congress of the PDP held on the 10th of August,2024 were not only transparent and democratic but inline of the party guidelines.

They also extended warm appreciation to His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori (Executive Governor of Delta State) and Chief Barr. Kingsley Esiso (State Chairman, PDP) for their overwhelming support throughout the process as well as party faithful for their good conduct during the exercise,while calling on all those who abandoned the party cause to return since the PDP umbrella is big enough to accommodate all.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF MEETING OF ETHIOPE WEST POLITICAL LEADERS FORUM HELD AT THE MOSOGAR COUNTRY HOME OF SEN. (CHIEF) DR. IGHOYOTA AMORI JP ON FRIDAY 16TH AUGUST,2024.

1).  The Conduct of PDP Ward and LGA Congresses held on July 27th and August 10th respectively came under the focus of leaders at the meeting.Wherein the leaders x-rayed the processes and were very satisfied with the outcome since they were transparent and democratic.The processes were inline with the party guidelines.Both events were witnessed by INEC officials, as well as DSS,Police, Civil Defense,and other security agencies.

2).  The processes led to the emergence of the various Ward Executives, Ad-hoc Delegates in the case of Ward Congress and the LGA Congress produced the following Executive Committee members which had Hon. 4).   The leadership of PDP.,as well as multitude of party faithful were on ground to witnessed the Congress which was held at Civic Center, Mosogar being designated venue for the PDP LGA Congress.All documentation was perfected by the Returning Officer,as well as INEC officials including DSS that came to monitor the whole process.

5).   Therefore,we the leaders of PDP in Ethiope-West LGA, wish to thank all party faithful, particularly all the Ad-Hoc and other Delegates for their steadfastness and commitment for the exemplary conducts displayed during the Congress.We encourage them to remain faithful with the principles and tenet of our great party, PDP.We want to use this medium to call on all those that abandoned the cause of the party to return.The umbrella is big enough to accommodate everyone,big or small.
