EDUCATION: VALLEY STREAM BRITISH SCHOOL IN COLLABORATION WITH OFFICE OF SA ON SDGs HOSTS SUMMER SCOUT CAMPING PROGRAM IN SAPELE(PHOTOS)

The Valley Stream British Schools in Sapele, Delta State, in collaboration with the office of the Special Assistant on SDGs to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori F.O JP, hosted a summer scout camping program. This week-long event which begins on Monday 12th and ended on Friday 16th of August,2024, brought together children from various schools across the state for a fun-filled and educational experience.

Serendib Capital, a proud partner of the program, went beyond its partnership role by actively participating in the event. Led by Mr. Voke Ighorojde, the company's representatives presented prizes (School Bags) and cash awards totaling one hundred and fifty thousand naira to the 3 winners, namely,

1. Treasure (F) 1st position. 

2. Faith (F) 2nd position. 

3. Olajesu (M) 3rd position. 

of the competition organized by the summer camp's organizers.

During the presentation, Mr. Ighorojde introduced the children and other participants to Serendib Capital's Blue Carbon Initiative. He explained that the initiative aims to conserve and restore coastal ecosystems in Delta State and beyond through projects such as:

1. Revegetating mangrove forests by planting. seedlings.

2. Removing tidal barriers to restore natural water flow.

3. Protecting threatened seagrass meadows.

Mr. Ighorojde emphasized the importance of educating children about blue carbon initiatives at a young age, as they play a crucial role in protecting the global environment. He encouraged the children to become ambassadors of environmental sustainability and spread awareness about the importance of preserving our planet's natural resources.

By participating in the summer scout camping program, Serendib Capital demonstrated its commitment to empowering the next generation and promoting sustainable development in Delta State. The company's Blue Carbon Initiative is a shining example of its dedication to creating a better future for all and promoting an eco-friendly environment.

It was a day wrapped with high sense of fulfillment as various personalities including political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industries, business moguls, political interest groups, family members, friends and business associates gathered in their numbers to celebrates with Sen (Chief) Dr. Ighoyota Amori JP during his 72nd Birthday ceremony hosted in Asaba,Delta State on Thursday 8th of August,2024.

Chief Amori who is a senior national Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State has served as a Commissioner for Education,Water Resources, Senior Political Adviser, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman,Delta State Capital Development Agency Asaba most recently.

The ceremony was propelled to celebrate the remarkable journey,achievements, impacts and contributions he has made raising, making and building men and human society through his warm political philosophy hinged on human empowerments and societal developments over the years.

Chief Amori an uncommon leader, mentor, principal and dignified father to countless numbers in the political stage,has steered the Urhobo course and stood for what is just,fair and true in all sense of human reasoning and justifications.

In his remarks,the Honourable Commissioner for Finance in Delta State,Chief Sir. Fidelis Tilije who doubles as Chairman of the occasion, affirmed that one good lesson he learnt from Chief Amori is his ability to ensure he is equal to everyone.i.e accommodating everybody irrespective of age and status.He further wished the celebrant more fruitful years to continuously impact the world positively.
